Shillito Group is delighted to congratulate our Founder, Pete Shillito, on his appointment as Chair of the Board of Trustees at Hallam Students’ Union (HSU).
The appointment reflects Pete’s long-standing commitment to South Yorkshire, leadership development and supporting organisations that make a genuine difference to the region.
With a history spanning more than 120 years, Hallam Students’ Union represents over 30,000 students and plays a significant role in shaping the student experience while helping to develop the next generation of leaders, professionals and entrepreneurs.
Pete has spent more than 25 years building relationships across manufacturing, engineering and executive leadership, helping organisations attract exceptional talent while supporting business growth across Yorkshire and beyond. Alongside leading Shillito Group, he is passionate about giving back to the region through voluntary leadership roles that strengthen local businesses, communities and future talent.
Speaking about the appointment, Pete said:
“South Yorkshire has given me so many opportunities throughout my career. Being able to support an organisation that helps thousands of young people develop their confidence, leadership skills and ambitions is something I’m incredibly proud to be part of.”
He added:
“Hallam Students’ Union has an outstanding reputation, and I’m looking forward to working alongside Kathryn Burkitt, the Board of Trustees and the wider HSU team as we continue to build on that success.”
At Shillito Group, we believe great businesses are built on great people. Leadership isn’t simply about making appointments—it’s about investing in people, developing future leaders and creating opportunities for others to succeed. Pete’s appointment perfectly reflects those values.
Whether supporting engineering manufacturers with critical hires, partnering with growing businesses on executive appointments or contributing to organisations that shape the future of our region, the focus remains the same: building lasting relationships and making a positive impact.
Everyone at Shillito Group would like to congratulate Pete on this well-deserved appointment. We look forward to seeing the positive contribution he will make to Hallam Students’ Union and wish him every success in his new role.
